The Trout Tree Restaurant offers a dining experience unlike any other in the world. Suspended in the branches of an enormous, ancient Mugumo (Fig) tree, the restaurant overlooks several ponds where Rainbow Trout are hatched and reared using the cold, fresh waters of the Burguret River.
The menu is centered around their "farm-to-plate" philosophy. The signature dish—freshly harvested trout—is prepared in a variety of styles, from classic grilled trout with garlic butter to tandoori and smoked variations. For those who aren't fans of fish, the restaurant serves excellent steaks and, on weekends, delicious wood-fired pizzas.
As you dine on the wooden platforms high above the water, you are often joined by a troop of resident Black and White Colobus monkeys that inhabit the canopy. The tranquil sound of the river below and the lush greenery make it a perfect family destination. After your meal, you can take a short walk to see the trout hatchery and learn about the sustainable aquaculture practices that make this restaurant a local treasure.
